The Basics of Air Conditioning Tools and Parts
Air conditioning is one of the best advancements in modern technology. With an effective air conditioner, you can relax in cool comfort and will never have to roast in sweltering summer heat, at least not when you are indoors. The two most popular types of air conditioners for homes are central air and window unit systems. Central air can lower the temperature in every room of your home. A window unit, on the other hand, can effectively cool a room but may not work for your entire home. Although most people don't repair their own cooling systems on their own, it's a good idea to know basic information about air conditioning tools and parts.
The average air conditioning system uses three main parts. They are the compressor, condenser and evaporator. In addition to these parts, an air conditioner also requires a cooling fluid in which to work effectively. The compressor and condenser are located on the unit, while the evaporator is often located inside your home. The compressor works to compress the cooling fluid into a high pressure, high temperature gas. This gas is then sent to the condenser which condenses it and sends it to the evaporator. This procedure is a cycle that repeats over and over, and accomplishes the cooling and circulation of the hot air inside your home. One of the most impressive things about an air conditioning system is that you can set your preferred temperature and it will cool the air to those specifications. The newest central air systems offer advanced features and digital controls for the most effective operation possible.
Sometimes, it is necessary to replace one of these parts if your system stops working. The compressor is a commonly replaced part that can be bought new or refurbished. Another part that you might deal with on your own is the furnace filter. You can replace the furnace filter yourself, and should do so every month to keep dust and allergens from being circulated around your home. While there are other parts and tools which may be used in air conditioner maintenance, they are best left to professionals. If you experience problems with your cooling system, you can contact a local HVAC company. An HVAC professional will bring their own air conditioning tools to your home to work on your system.
