The Many Benefits Of Face And Neck Exercises

by Jen Hopkins

Not many people are familiar with the concept of face and neck exercises. Most people know about the benefits of exercising for your body, but they ignore the great benefits of keeping the tone of your face and neck muscles. Imperfections like wrinkles, sagging skin or under eye bags can be prevented or improved with some regular and quick workouts for your facial area.

Face fitness can include exercising several areas, from the eyes and forehead to the cheeks, lips, and neck. Although moisturizers and creams may help fight wrinkles, these areas often sag and look tired because the muscle tone is so bad. As a double chin and sagging neck skin often give away a person's age the quickest, exercising these muscles can keep you looking younger and even lighter in weight (as many often mistake a double or triple chin as excess fat, not poor muscle tone).

To keep your neck and throat looking better, try some of the following moves. One of the easiest is to simply sit upright, lean your head back and look at the ceiling, then pretend to chew while keeping your lips together. Repeat the movement about 20 times daily and you'll be surprised how quickly you'll begin to see results.

Another beneficial and effective exercise consists on lying on your back on your bed. Rest your head over the bed's edge and with a slow movement bring it up towards your body for around 10 seconds. Then relax and put your head back down over the border. By doing 5 or more repetitions a day, you will start to see a general improvement in the definition and tone of your neck and chin very soon.

The first thing you should do if you start noticing lines around your lips is quit smoking if you do. Another thing to avoid is direct exposition to the sun, and always use sunblock. If you stop smoking and do these face and neck exercises, this will improve both your looks and your health.

One of the easiest workouts for your lips is sitting upright with your head looking to the straight to the front. Put your lips and teeth together, smile as much as you can and hold it for 5 seconds. Then relax, purse your lips to a kissing position and hold it for another 5 seconds. You should do this at least 10 times a day.

There are some devices designed specifically for facial exercising, you should be able to find some for less than $30 with a quick online search. Having one of these "machines" might keep you more motivated and disciplined to do your daily face and neck workout. These facial exercisers will help you fight sagging skin, creases below the cheeks or from the nose to your mouth's sides (commonly called jowl lines) and the always feared double chin.

When you do your daily workouts, don't forget your face and neck area! These exercises can be done in lots of places like your office or while you are driving, they are easy to stick to and you will start noticing results in only a few weeks. Employ a few minutes to search for more movements and exercises on the Internet, they should help your feel and look better for little to no cost, and the results you will see will be totally worth it.
